Shipping and postage on Magic cards in Norway

What it costs to get cards in the post, which stores offer free shipping, and why gathering the order at fewer stores usually wins.

Postage is the line item people forget when comparing card prices, and the one that most often decides what an order actually costs. On a 400 kr order, shipping is easily a quarter of the total — and if you order from several stores, you pay it several times.

Posten's letter rates

Norwegian card stores send singles as letters. The price depends on thickness, not weight (the 2 kg limit is never binding for cards):

The estimates assume a sleeved card is 0.4–0.5 mm, and that the envelope and protection eat 2–3 mm of the thickness allowance. The rates apply from 1 February 2026.

What the stores charge

Most stores have their own rate above Posten's bare letter price, because packing and any tracking come on top:

The calculation that actually decides

Suppose you need four cards, and each of them is 10 kr cheaper at a different store. Buy them where they are cheapest and you save 40 kr on the items while paying three extra lots of postage — around 150 kr more in total. The rule is therefore simple: gather the order, unless the difference on a single card is larger than a whole postage charge.

Free-shipping thresholds change the maths. If you are at 1,850 kr at Collectible, adding one more card to cross the threshold can beat spreading the order. Cardmarket: one lot of postage per seller

On Cardmarket you buy from private individuals, and each seller ships separately. The marketplace's own tool helps you find sellers who cover as many of your cards as possible — use it, or postage will quickly eat the price advantage. That last row is the one that catches most people out: above 25 € in item value — around 270 kr — Cardmarket requires tracking, and postage of ~32 kr becomes ~89 kr. One expensive card from an extra seller therefore costs far more than a small letter.

The rates are Cardmarket's own, fetched 2026-09-23, converted at the day's rate. Tracking is not only a matter of order value: Cardmarket also requires it of sellers with too many shipments that never arrived — above 2% of their sales. What does it cost to send Magic cards by post in Norway?

Posten's letter rates from 1 February 2026 are 28 kr for a small letter (up to 0.5 cm thick), 46 kr for a large letter (up to 2 cm) and 69 kr for extra large. A protected card in an envelope is around 0.5 mm, so a small letter holds roughly eight cards and a large letter around 45.

Which Norwegian Magic stores offer free shipping?

Is it worth gathering the order at one store?

Almost always. Postage of 50–100 kr per store means five cards from five stores quickly costs more than the same cards from one store that is slightly more expensive per card. The exception is when one expensive card is significantly cheaper elsewhere, or when a combined order just crosses a free-shipping threshold.

Do I pay postage per seller on Cardmarket?

Yes. Every seller on Cardmarket ships separately and sets their own postage. Order from five sellers and you pay five lots of postage — that is the most common reason a "cheap" Cardmarket order ends up costing more than buying everything at one Norwegian store.
